One of the most important components of a laptop is the laptop screen. While its main work is to show the inputs, you simply cannot use your laptop without a functional screen. Laptop screen problems can be very troublesome specifically because you might not be able to use your device effectively. These screens generally employ LCD (liquid crystal display) technology, which can sometimes be susceptible to a range of issues. Some of the most common issues that laptop screens are prone to have been highlighted bellow:

- Dirt and other debris
Laptop screens are usually magnets for dirt, moisture spots, dust and other debris. Besides, laptop users usually sit just a few feet away from their screens and this makes it very easy to potentially sneeze or even spit on the screen. All these can make a laptop screen look very dirty and spots of dirt cam sometimes look like some dead pixels before they are cleaned.
- Pixel defects
When we talk of pixel defects, we mean both dead pixels and malfunctioning or bright pixels. In more often than not, pixel defects are present in LCD monitors and new laptop screens. I case you don’t know, dead pixels are simply those pixels that appear as very tiny black squares on a laptop screen and they do never light up at all. Pixel defects may be very hard to spot especially if the pixels or bad pixels are located towards the screen edges. Laptop screen manufacturers have different pixel defect policies. While other manufacturers allow for returns for just a single bad pixel, others allow customers to return their laptop screens only if the number of defective pixels exceed a particular number.
- Inadequate screen brightness
Another common laptop screen problem is inadequate screen brightness. Over time, plasma and LCD screens can dim or fade. Laptop screens are usually set at a very low brightness level in order to conserve energy. So, if you notice that your screen brightness has dim or fade, you can turn up your screen brightness. However, this might not solve the problem especially if there is any physical damage to particularly to the wiring which supplies the display with video information or power.
- Blurry pictures
Laptop screens may sometimes have blurry or fuzzy displays with lines appearing on the screen or with distorted colors. Such problems can sometimes make it impossible or difficult to use a laptop. Updating the system BIOS or display drivers can help solve these issues.
